Rachel woke to stormy weather with rain slamming fiercely against the swaying ship; it rocked so much she could barely get out of bed. And, when she did, she could not stand without holding to the bedpost. Just when she thought she would never be able to move again.
Bones knocked and entered inundating the cabin as he pushes through the strong door, to place the tray of coffee and buns on the table. He sees the frozen Rachel who looked petrified holding on to the bedpost. Bones walked over to her and offered his arm to take her to the table that was safely bolted to the floor. She thanks Bones as he poured her coffee and then he leaves her to finish her breakfast and get dressed.
Rachel knew they were sailing to Africa, but she was not aware of the perils of getting there, but she began to ponder if the ship would be in one piece when and if they landed. Bones came back to her cabin and told her Captain Blue was at the helm so no need to fear, as they travel this stormy route many times before.
Bones place a trunk on the table and told Rachel these were some of the dresses the Captain brought to trade with Africa’s tradesmen; and he wanted her to see if there were any to her liking. Then, Bones bowed and left her alone with her little treasures.
Rachel opened the trunk to see some of the most beautiful dresses, made of silk trimmed in lace of every kind one could image and with pearls and pearl buttons adorned on some of them. And, undergarments, shoes, hair-combs, hats to match the dresses, including little string purses to match the shoes. Everything was so lovely she did not know where to begin her private fashion show.
Finally, Rachel selected the soft-silky pink one with hair-combs, shoes and purse to match. And, at the very bottom of the trunk was a box of jewelry fit for a Queen. She chose the white and pink pearls for her ears, no necklace would she wear; to take away from the beauty of the dress.
She had just applied the finishing touches when the door blew open and in walked Captain Blue. Wet from his head to his toes, but stopped in his tracks when he saw a vision of loveliness standing before him. He could not speak or think for several minutes, then a big smile appeared on his face and his blue eyes sparkled and softened at the sight before him.
He said: “I will go into my closet room and change, when we will dine together if that to your liking?”
Rachel began to thank him for the lovely dress she chose and Captain Blue said they were all hers---everything in the trunk was hers---and she would get more after his trading with Africa. Then he left her to dress for dinner.
Rachel daydreamed about Africa while the Captain dressed, would it be a wonderland of beauty, filled with friendly people and wild animals? She could only hope this adventure would be as great as the one she now lived.

Captain Blue's Ship and Rachel's First Night
Rachel had never slept so long in her life and to be awakened by the smell of robust coffee and sweet buns covered with grounded nuts, which was her favorite. She truly felt like this was Heaven.
The coffee was so good she changed into the only other outfit she owned and decided to carry a cup on deck to see what everyone did on a ship this large.
She was met by Captain Blue and his blue eyes shined as they looked at Rachel in her white dress. Without meaning to cause a commotion she did as soon as the crew saw her they all bowed. Bones had spread the word the Captain had an Angel on board, and he wanted to keep her to protect them.
Captain Blue offered his arm to show her around the boat, and then he gave her cup to Bones for a refill when they returned. The ship was beautiful and Rachel could not believe it was a pirate’s ship.
Captain Blue asked, “Does your family know where you are Rachel?"
Rachel had tears in her beautiful blue eyes when she looked at the Captain to answer softly, “My mother is dead and my father left me to be a crew-member on a ship, so I have no one anymore.”
This struck the very heart and soul of Captain Blue and he got a knot in his throat, which made it difficult for him to speak. So, he just looked into Rachel eyes and patted her lovely hand which was still holding on to his arm.
Then he put his arm around her and they both stood watching the waves as the sunset streamed across the water displaying tiny fish jumping from the light into the darkness of the evening waters.
Rachel had never been treated so sweetly before and she made a promise she would thank Captain Blue before anything bad happened to either one of them. She would thank Bones too for being so nice to her.
When they returned from the tour of the huge vessel Bones had dinner ready for them in the Captain’s dining area just below where Rachel was staying. It was so beautiful with candles burning sending beams of light to dance across the Captain’s handsome face for Rachel to enjoy stolen glances as she drank her wine.
Captain Blue was enjoying his beautiful dinner guest sitting across from him so much so he decided to make a toast to her. Captain Blue stood up with his glass and said: “Rachel we are all happy to have you with us in our journey to Africa to purchase supplies, and so this toast is to you for making this trip more enjoyable with your presents aboard.”
It was one of the happiest moments she could remember and she drank to his toast and thanked him for being so kind to her. This was such a beautiful night she hated for it to end.
The Captain walked her back to the cabin, and then he kissed her hand and left her standing in the doorway. Rachel stood for the longest time looking at the stars in the sky, she had never seen so many at one time. It made her feel so small in her new world.
She finally closed the door, without knowing that Bones and the Captain were watching to make sure she remained safe in his world.
